Two Hundred Years of Fashion'

SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film presents "Threads of History: Two Hundred Years Fashion," a sartorial voyage through style and time celebrating the ability of way and its chapters to reflect historical and cultural trends. Featuring rare European and American garments from the 18th through 20th centuries, the exhibition illuminates society'south shifting values equally it traces the development of historic dress.

"Threads of History: Two Hundred Years Way" offers viewers the unprecedented opportunity to examine womenswear, menswear and children's ensembles from a range of distinctive periods, from the ornate Rococo era and the grand Belle Époque to the glitzy Roaring '20s and the elegant New Look revolution following Globe War 2.

Many of the garments on display appear courtesy of world-renowned Italian fashion professor and collector Raffaello Piraino, whose legendary collection, housed in Palermo, Italy, consists of more than v,000 garments and accessories that belonged to the Sicilian aristocracy and bourgeoisie. Notable items from the SCAD Permanent Collection punctuate the exhibition.

"Threads of History: 2 Hundred Years of Fashion" is curated by Rafael Gomes, SCAD manager of mode exhibitions, with help from Luca Lo Sicco, SCAD professor of fashion marketing and management.

The exhibition is free for museum members, and all SCAD students, kinesthesia, staff with a valid SCAD Carte du jour. Open up to the public with the price of museum admission.

SCAD President Paula Wallace spotlights two centuries of fashion featured in "Threads of History: Ii Hundred Years of Way," a SCAD FASH exhibition tracing the evolution of apparel from the ornate Rococo era to the elegant New Look and across.

Meagan Cignoli film: 'The Milliner'

SCAD presents "The Milliner," a SCAD-commissioned, brusk cinematic history of hats that chronicles the development of millinery and the considerations of modernistic chapeau makers every bit they reinterpret the class. With playful stop-motility visuals and sartorial special effects, "The Milliner" was produced by visual media artist Meagan Cignoli in conjunction with SCAD students and alumni, including:

  • Music composer Todd Beyer (B.F.A., sound pattern, 2007)
  • Assistant set designer Justin DiPiero (B.F.A., interior design, 2013)
  • Hat designer Brenna McCarthy (B.F.A., accessory design, 2016)

The film as well features artwork by SCAD alumni including:

  • Abel Macias (B.F.A., illustration, 2002)
  • Lucha Rodríguez (M.F.A., printmaking, 2011)
  • Ryan Day (B.F.A., painting, 2016)
  • Katie Smith (B.F.A., painting, 2016)
  • Volition Penny (M.F.A., painting, 2013, B.F.A., painting, 2008)

Cignoli is the founder of Visual Country, an accolade-winning creative video production agency based in New York Urban center. "The Milliner" is now on view through Sunday, March 12, 2017.
